Over the last 2 weeks, I went to two major music events: Ozzfest and Warped Tour. Ozzfest was great- the entire main stage rocked the house- playing music, talking to the fans, playing MORE music- I really enjoyed myself. There was minimal political commentary, and even if you disagreed with it, it was well put (mostly). Warped Tour on the other, was an 8 hour, Bush-Bashing, America-Bashing fest where bands played for 25 minutes and talked politics for 10. Well not really talked, more just yelled out ignorance over a mic. And I have one question: Why?

Both of these events were suppose to be about the music. Ozzfest was. Over the span of 6 hours of solid music (5-11), there were 2 political comments from 2 bands. One was System of a Down, and was expected, and was well said. However, Warped Tour was 8 hours of music, and most of the bands had something to say regarding Bush, government, or America. None of it was good (good as in nice). There was a ‘Take Action!’ booth that was all Anti-Bush stuff, and people walking around with ‘F**k Bush’ shirts on. Warped Tour is suppose to be about bands coming together to play music for their fans. Not brainwash them into thinking their way about politics and government. And they had nothing intelligent to say. NOFX just called Bush an idiot, among other things. Valiant Thor had no idea what they were saying, and added some troop bashing. Anti-Flag, though I only caught part of their performance, was probably the worst. They pose the question ‘What are we going to do about the USA?’ and consistently bash it. Actually, that is the whole gimmick. It’s funny how they create this persona where they bash Bush, America and what it stands for, yet use it as the outlet to get that hate-filled message across. They are getting paid to tour America, as part of Van’s Warped Tour, Vans being part of the dreaded and evil Corporate America. The spit ignorance to the crowd, saying whatever they want and know that their fans will blindly follow them. But they don’t educate. Nor does NOFX or Valiant Thor, to name a few. Thor actually said that people who read think they know everything, but don’t. I guess the people who are really in the know are those who get wasted and are given a mic.

I am not mad because I disagree with what they were saying. I am mad because they took a a musical event and made it into a political contest were your could bash America, George Bush, the Troops, and say anything you want, knowing you will get cheers from people who only know what YOU, the bands, tell them, and YOU, the bands, are OK with that. Later.

Disclaimer: I want to respond to the comment by “rick solum” here in the post. I do not lie on my site. He is asking my to check my facts when I heard what he said. The man was wasted out of his mind talking about the Sweedish Chef, the war, troops and the president. It was nonsense. And, Sure you can’t believe everything you read, but what he said will turn the crowd off from reading and that makes people ignorant. Finally, Vailent being in the army does not make him a supporter of the army. And if someone asks me to check my facts, don’t say ‘i think’ in your comment. Check your facts.

I am glad Senators know what the are talking about….

Recently, I read a news story in which Sen. Ted Stevens (R- Alaska) states why he voted against Net Neutrality. For those who don’t know what is going on, part of the senate is trying to make it so a few big companies control in the internet. The Net Neutrality (NN) bill would prevent that from happening.

Sen. Stevens gave his 2 cents on why he is against NN. Without going into too much detail of what he said, it is clear he has no idea what he is talking about.

I just the other day got, an Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?

Two things are horribly wrong with that statement. A- he cannot speak. That sentence is all kinds of wrong, grammatically. B- ‘an internet was sent by my staff’? Well you probably just got it because there is a lot of internet. It took a while to download. He also said, We use this internet to communicate and we aren’t using it for commercial purposes.. Um…has he ever been on the internet? O right, he was suppose to get it Friday, but got it yesterday. So I guess Amazon, Ebay, and every online store out there are not really deemed ‘commercial purposes’ by Sen. Stevens. E-Commerce is just a fake term anyway.

After that he starts to get technical, about how the internet is a series of tubes. Tubes that get clogged. With stuff. Like the internet. I have no idea what his last 3 statements mean.

Maybe there is a place for a commercial net but it’s not using what consumers use every day.

It’s not using the messaging service that is essential to small businesses, to our operation of families.

The whole concept is that we should not go into this until someone shows that there is something that has been done that really is a volition of net neutrality that hits you and me.

Huh?

The fact of the matter is maybe someone should O I don’t know….educate our senators as to how the internet works. And maybe send Sen. Stevens back to English class. Later

I just read about this site via Ctrl-Alt-Del. It is a website that unites video game voters and helps them contact their Senators about the Family Entertainment Protection Act.

Basically this act, headed up by my favorite people, Hilary Clinton and Joe Lieberman, with some help from Jack Thompson, will limit what kind of games can be created and sold. Besides the fact that this is against our right to freedom of speech, the government is boldly going where it should not. In 1993, the rating system was put in place with help from Joe Lieberman, and that should be enforced better. It is not up to the government to tell our kids what they can and cannot play. Really, I should not be writing this. I should be sleeping. Or working. Not this. But, after reading a little story about Alec Baldwin, I would like to talk about a topic I have been sitting on for a while. That topic is actors who make political statements are contributing to America’s ignorance.

Hear me out here. I could say anyone, who doesn’t present real evidence to back up their ridiculous claims. But actors and musicians are doing it in a different way. You see, they are using the fact that they are famous to rally support for their political beliefs. And it works. Look at Green Day or Eminem fans. They say ‘I hate Bush’ and magically, thousands of bush haters are created. But do they say why?? What does Eminem say in ‘Mosh’ and other songs?? “I hate bush” and “Fuck war”. And Green Day- don’t get me wrong. I like Green Day. But they are anti bush and don’t say why. But the fans buy into it. If Billy Joe says bush sucks, he must.

The same goes for actors, like Alec Baldwin, who like other liberals, is claiming Cheney was drunk. I would like to see one shred of evidence that Cheney might have been drunk. Just one little something. A beer can he drank with in the hour or something. By the way people on the news are doing it, anyone anywhere can make any claim and as long as enough people buy it, it’s true. And for the record Alec, Harry Whittington and Cheney are good friends, and if you watched his statement today, he said he hopes Cheney keeps visiting and he apologized for what the Cheneys are going through. So while you say “Harry Whittington is getting paid off”, maybe you should try watching the news once in a while. Educate yourself while you create an ignorant generation of teens who follow because they like you. Later

I would like to precede this post by saying that in the past, I have mentioned I do not like to talk politics on this site. But I realize if I keep saying that, it’s kind of void. I still maintain that it will not be often. This is primarily a computer/tech blog. However, it is my blog and I will put my opinions on it. If you disagree, you can comment. I enjoy discussion. With that said…

I am a little tired of Cheney getting scrutinized for accidentally shooting his friend. I would imagine it is traumatizing without the liberal media spreading lies, making fun and attacking this from all angles, quite hypocritically, might I add.

First of all, recognize that someone did get shot. I’ve been shot with paintballs and it’s not pleasant. Bullets, I am assuming, it much worse. Second of all, Cheney’s 1st priority was making sure his friend was safe. The fact that the story broke less than 24 hours after it happened isn’t bad in my opinion. Might I remind everyone of a story Hillary sat on for over 30 hours in 1993.

Secondly, The notion that Cheney was drunk is ridiculous. These supposed ‘credible news sources’ are now spreading slanderous rumors about the event that never actually happened. The media should be ashamed of itself.
